ImpactLive was Banbury’s pioneering internet radio station, founded in 1998 and later operating from the Colin Sanders Innovation Centre. It evolved into a community broadcasting voice, running trial FM broadcasts on 106.4 FM and later competing for full local radio licenses before eventually withdrawing from the commercial race. Origins and Internet Broadcasting
  • Launch: Founded in 1998 as Banbury’s first online-only radio station.
  • Studio Location: Broadcast weekday evenings via Colin Sanders Innovation Centre.

FM Trials and Evolution
  • Temporary FM License: Granted a 28-day trial FM broadcast license on 106.4 FM starting June 1, 2003, giving local amateur presenters live airtime experience.
  • Rebranding: Renamed Banbury Community Radio (operating as an applicant entity alongside rivals Banbury FM and Banbury Local Radio).
  • Withdrawal: Ultimately withdrew its bid from the competitive Ofcom full-time commercial licence race in late 2003/2004. OXFORD MAIL
